FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is this site about?
Video games and geek stuff, of course.
What do you hope to accomplish as just one person in the video game blogging outlet against sites like IGN, Kotaku, and Joystiq?
Nothing. I don’t get paid to do this, and I don’t hope to get any exclusive benefits or inside info. I mainly do this for fun and to have a place to write. Entertainment and news have their place here, and I appreciate anyone who reads what I have to say, but this site is just a nerdy haven for me.
It looks like you haven’t updated in a while. What’s up with that? Did you give up on the site?
While that’s always a possibility (I’ve always had a knack for losing interest in things too easily), keep in mind I’m just one person. I don’t have a team of writers with me, and I don’t plan on this site being a full-time job or hobby. If I think something is too good to not post, it will be posted. And if I need some time away or responsibilities take over, then that will happen. I’ll try to leave a post regarding any planned breaks or emergency time off.
Can I come to work for this blog?
Sorry, but at this time, I’m not looking for a partner or team of writers.
I have something important I need to share with you. How can I get a hold of you?
At this time, I only have Twitter, YouTube, and a Comments Contact section. Feel free to get a hold of me either way, but I may not always be available.
You obviously play Warcraft. What class do you play?
I’ve been on a Warcraft hiatus for a while. I may not actually come back to the game, but it was my first MMO experience, so it’s the basis of my MMO viewpoints and themes. My Hunter is my favorite toon, and the one I consider my main. He was the first one I created during my 10-day free trial. I originally played a Night Elf, but when Faction Transfers were made available I changed him into an Orc. However, I’ve played every class. I currently have a Level 85 Hunter, an 80 Shaman, Mage, Druid, Paladin, Priest, Death Knight, and Rogue, and my Warlock and Warrior are of various lower levels. And, yes, you read that correctly. I’m a leveling fiend.
Ah ha! So ye playeth Horde, ye warmongering son of a Murloc! What dost thou have against the Alliance?!
Whoa, whoa! Slow down there, slick! Actually, I played both Horde and Alliance with an even number of toons on both sides. I have some great friends on each faction, and greatly enjoyed the faction storylines on both sides.
When did you start playing World of Warcraft?
It’s a funny story, actually. In December of 2007, I remember seeing the original Mr. T WoW commercial for the first time. Being a huge fan of The A-Team, I honestly said to myself, “You know what? Mr. T is pitching this game. I really want to try it now.” So I did. My computer at the time, however, was kinda old, and I had a built-in graphics processor or something to that effect. My framerates were super low, and I usually ran at about 13-15 FPS in zones like Teldrassil and Lakeshire. I got to Level 70 by May or June though!
Do (or did) you raid or PvP?
Not really. I’d been known to do so sporadically in the past, however. I absolutely loved running Karazhan back during The Burning Crusade with my old guild, along with the occasional old world raid like Blackwing Lair and Ahn’Qiraj 40-man. I ran Naxxramas during Wrath of the Lich King, and a bit of Ulduar, but I’ve honestly gotten sick of the bickering, complaining, and attitudes some people have regarding raids and loot. At the end of the day, I just want to have fun with my friends. And I can do that in other ways besides raiding.
As for PvP, I pretty much suck at it. I enjoyed the times I spent in battlegrounds before Wrath, but it got old.
What’s your favorite part about Warcraft?
Lore. The thing that interests me more than anything else in a game is the storyline. I love how Blizzard has created such an intricate story with so many twists and turns, plus managed to flesh out an enormous amount of iconic characters with which to tell it.
What MMO’s do you play besides WoW?
I’ve also played Rift, Final Fantasy XIV Online, and EverQuest 2 Extended: Free Adventures. I’ve dabbled in a couple of others such as Jade Dynasty, FusionFall, and Free Realms, but not very seriously.
What consoles do you own?
I own a Wii, XBox 360, and Playstation 3.
Will you add me as a friend on either Wii, Live, or PSN?
Sorry, but no. My friends lists are reserved for personal friends. That is to say, I don’t want to seem like a jerk, but I would prefer to only add people I know on a personal level.
Do you have any favorite games on either Wii, XBox, or PS3?
Yes! Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the Metroid Prime Trilogy, and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess are great Wii games. Although, haters gonna hate on my Twilight Princess. On PS3, I’m a huge fan of the God of War series, White Knight Chronicles, Little Big Planet, and Modnation Racers. XBox and Halo 1/2/3/Reach go hand in hand, as well as the Gears of War series, Blue Dragon, Tales of Vesperia, Street Fighter IV, and Enchanted Arms. For 3rd party titles, The Last Remnant, Blur, and Sonic the Hedgehog 2006. Haters gonna hate on my Sonic and Last Remnant, too.
Any old-school game favorites?
Don’t even get me started!
- Super Mario Bros. 1-3, Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64
- The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past & Ocarina of Time
- Super Metroid
- Pokemon Red/Blue, and Yellow
- Sonic the Hedgehog 1-3, Sonic and Knuckles, Spinball, 3D Blast, Sonic Adventure 1 & 2
- Street Fighter II: Turbo
- NBA Jam
- Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (both the SNES Beat ‘em up and Genesis fighting games), MMPR: The Movie, Fighting Edition
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (NES)
Wait, did you just say you like Power Ranger games?
Heck, yes. Take them for what they’re worth as far as genre. They’re not ground breaking, but MMPR and MMPR: The Movie (both SNES titles) are great beat ‘em up titles. MMPR: The Movie is even co-op! And, yes, you do morph eventually in every level, but you don’t use any Zords. The Sega Genesis fighting game, simply titled Mighty Morphin Power Rangers also, and the SNES Fighting Edition are decent fighting titles. Fighting Edition uses all the Megazords, and the Genesis game includes both playable Rangers and Zords. Maybe it’s just nostalgia, but I go back to these games whenever I get the chance.
